Childrens' Ministries Children and youth are very important at our church. They are invited to increase their faith and build dynamic relationships with Jesus Christ through participation in our children's and youth programs. For information or question, please contact the church office at 708.354.0771.
Faith Forest - is our weekly Sunday Church School program for children in Kindergarten through eighth grade.
Pre-School Faith Forest - is for three and four years olds, where children hear Bible stories, share activities and a snack, and become accustomed to coming to church each week. This class meets in Room G-2 on Sunday mornings during the 10:00 worship service.
Nursery and Childcare - is provided each Sunday morning for infants and toddlers up to 36 months. Safe care and happy playtime are ensured. Parents can check on their children via a one-way window. A pager system is also available. Childcare is offered at most church events, but can be ensured by registering with the Church Office [708.354.0771] with 48-hour advance notification.
The Summer Reading Program (W.I.N.G.S) encourages and challenges children of all ages to read during the summer and off-school months. Special prizes and awards are given.
Vacation Bible School is held usually the first week of August. VBS provides a fun, exciting week of Bibles stories, drama, crafts, games, snacks and activities for children from pre-school through 5th grade, with childcare provided for infants of our volunteers. Volunteers are needed in many capacities - from registration, to crafts, to snack preparation, to teaching and recreation. Volunteers can serve one day or spend the entire week with us.
Mission Activities are encouraged to foster in young children the desire to serve others. Weekly offerings are given to support the Heifer Project, and hats and mittens are collected in December for the Head Start Program in Congress Park. Mission projects are also incorporated into most Faith Forest rotations.
Seasonal Activities include the Easter Egg Hunt at Plymouth Place and the Christmas Pageant.
Acolytes are children grades two to sixth who light the Unity candle on Sunday mornings for the 10:00 worship service. Training is ensured and scheduling is flexible. Contact the Church Office if your child has interest.
Activity Folders are provided each Sunday to give young children drawing supplies and puzzles to use during the worship services. These blue folders can be found in the Narthex near the Ushers Desk.
Music and Drama Opportunities are available for our children. We offer many different choirs depending on their age. Children also have the opportunity to participate in our annual Christmas Pagaent as well as our Spring musical. Check on the music link or contact the church office for details. Newcomers are always welcome to join the choirs.
Children are loved and welcomed in our worship services. They are encouraged to participate in all family activities at the church, including, mission projects.
