Worship, Music & Arts
The Worship, Music & Arts ministry contributes
in many ways to the services held at our church. Below are just
some ways in which it is involved with each Sunday service:
Ministry of Music
The ministry of music at First Church is a broad program that has
developed over the years and is based upon the needs of our growing
congregation. In its present form, it offers opportunities for musicians
of all ages to participate. It is a spiritual ministry - having a biblical
foundation supported by the fellowship of loving Christians in a musical
setting and is designed to complement the total ministry of the church.
Membership is always open, and interested persons are encouraged to join at any time.
Contact our Director of Music, at any time for more information.
The following list describes the groups currently available:
Cherub Choir - The first
choral experience for singers is open to children ages 4 through Kindergarten.
They perform occasionally at the 10:00 worship service and rehearse after Sunday morning worship from 11:15 - 11:30 am.
Join us in the Choir room during the school year for a lot of fun with singing!
Crusader Choir - This second
choral experience is open to all children from first through fifth grades.
They perform periodically at the 10:00 worship service and rehearse during the school year on
Wednesdays from 4:30 - 5:30 pm in the Choir Room. Each spring, a musical is performed for the congregation. Donuts are a favorite treat
as is the field trip to get ice cream at the end of the year! Join the choir anytime. Any questions, can be directed to Doreen Sterba DeZur or the church office.
NOW Music - This midweek music
program is for youth in sixth through twelfth grades. They offer music occasionally at
the Sunday worship services. Rehearsal is on Thursdays from 6:00 - 6:45 p.m. in the Choir Room during the school year.
Sanctuary Choir - This choir
provides music leadership for the Sunday morning worship services on a regular
basis. In addition, it presents several major concerts throughout the year.
Rehearsals are held on Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays before service in the
Choir Room. Membership is open to all who want to further their musical skills
regardless of their level. Newcomers always welcome.
Cornerstone -
Cornerstone provides the music for our Sunday evening House of Hope service. If you enjoy singing contemporary songs or playing the
guitar or keyboard, come join us.
Practice is held prior to the service starting at 4:15. Contact Matt Lloyd if you would like be part of this uplifting music.
Handbells I & II - Two handbell
Choirs provide music for various worship services here in the Sanctuary and in the
Community. Bells I meets on Wednesday mornings at 9:00 a.m., and Bells II meets on
Thursday at 6:45 p.m. Both groups meet in the Choir Loft. Contact Doreen Sterba DeZur if you are interested or have questions.
