Presbyterian Women

All women members of First Presbyterian Church of La Grange are members of Presbyterian Women (PW). We encourage participation by all women in the activities of Presbyterian Women as we seek opportunities for Christian fellowship.

The purpose of PW is as follows:

Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ, we commit ourselves:

To nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study;
To support the mission of the church worldwide;
To work for justice and peace; and
To build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (USA) and witnesses to the promise of God’s kingdom.

PW offers monthly luncheons, several circles, a book club as well as a retreat. The PW is part of Church Women United.

PW Luncheons and Speakers are scheduled for the first Thursday of each month, September through May. Lunch is served at 12:30 p.m. The program follows at 1:30 p.m. and lasts approximately one hour except where noted otherwise. Contact the church office or pick up the annual PW brochure for details on specific speakers and programs. Childcare is provided when requested in advance.

The Book Group meets at 1:00 p.m. the third Tuesday of each month (except July, August and December) at either the church parlor or someone's home. Books for the year are selected at the June meeting. Discussion leaders & hostesses are rotated among group.

The Fellowship Circle meets the third Thursday at 9:30 a.m. for bible discussion. They meet in various women's homes or at the church for bible study.

Friendship Circle, another Women’s Bible study, meets the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. for dessert. They meet in various women's homes or at the church and follow the annual Presbyterian Women's Horizons Bible study. All women are invited.

The Sewing Circle meets the fourth Thursday of every month (except November and December) in Westminster Hall at 9:30 a.m. They make cozy comforters which are given to The Chicago Christian Industrial League. If you can cut, pin or sew, or have design ideas, you will be able to help make these quilts.

The PW Board meets monthly to discuss issues and activities concerning Presbyterian Women.
