Palestinian Children Sponsorships

For the past few years, FPCLG has been sponsoring Christian Palestinian children in the West Bank, to pay for them to attend a Christian school near their homes. This program is run by the Holy Land Christian Ecumenical Foundation, of which our own Donald Kruse is on the Board of Directors.

This past year we have added a third child, Zenah who is 5 years old. This is in addition to Rita whom we’ve been sponsoring for two years. Our first student, Anton, has reached an age where he no longer attends the Christian school, so we now sponsor a child named Marcil, a teenager from Ramallah.

The West Bank is known for its troubles between Jews and Muslims, but there is a Christian minority in the area. As Palestinians, our Christian brothers and sisters face similar discrimination as the Muslims. Since Christians make up less than eight percent of the population in the region, they face these hardships with even fewer friends for support.

Thanks to generous contributions to our church, three children enjoy a Christian education that they otherwise would not have, and can attend a school in safety. Even more so, they know that other Christians from the other side of the world care for their plight and help them. If our budget permits, the Mission and Outreach Committee would like to expand our participation in this worthy cause, offering sponsorships to even more students.

On Monday Mission nights (held in the FPCLG basement each month) children are encouraged to write letters to our students. Anyone wishing to write to them may forward a note to the church office, indicating who it is for, and it will be sent on.
