GOT RUMMAGE? WE NEED IT! AND DON'T FORGET TO COME TO SHOP!
Are your closets overflowing? We can help de-clutter your closets, basements and lives! Donate your household items, small furniture, toys, books, clothing, etc. for the High School Youth (TUXIS) rummage sale. It’s their largest fundraiser to offset expenses for their annual summer mission work trip. Unfortunately, we are not accepting computers. Drop off items any time before Friday, March 12, at 9:00 a.m.; our youth would be happy to unload your cars on Sunday, March 7, 10:30-11:30 a.m. or 6:15-7:30 p.m. And don’t forget to come and shop on Friday, March 12, 7:00-9:00 p.m. ($5 admission) or Saturday, March 13, 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. (free admission; everything half price after noon). See our flyer at http://www.fpclg.org/pdfs/rummage_sale_2010.pdf. Questions? Contact Judy Monzella at 708.354.0771, ext. 43, or jmonzella@fpclg.org.
BEREAVEMENT SEMINAR ON SATURDAY, MARCH 20
A two-part seminar will again be presented by Dr. John Boyle, founder of the Lorene Replogle Counseling Center at Fourth Presbyterian of Chicago, on Saturday, March 20, 9:00 a.m.-noon. “How Grief Works” and “How to do Your Grief Work” is for anyone desiring to understand the grief of losing a loved one, whether recently or many years past. JOB SUPPORT GROUP WORKSHOP
Our five-week job support workshop (through March 9) on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. in Room G-9 is designed for all who are in career transition, whether voluntarily or not. Sessions will help you put together a job search strategy, and specifically cover resume preparation, interviewing techniques and follow-through, and how to network.
Are you “Linked In” with the people that can help you with your job search? Whether or not you are familiar with this powerful social media tool, come on March 9 when Aileen Gilpin, principal at Gilpin Consultants, will provide a “Linked In” primer and answer all your questions about how you can effectively use this online resource. For additional information, please contact Susan Sedler at sqsedler@aol.com or 708.352.2575.
The Interfaith Career Network Organization is a fellowship of churches in our area offering job search support (www.interfaithcareernetwork.org).
SAVE THE DATE FOR WALK THRU THE BIBLE—NEW TESTAMENT
If you enjoyed our first Walk Thru the Bible seminar, then you will love the New Testament version on Saturday, April 10. No tedious note-taking or long lectures! Use hand signs, catch phrases, audience participation and humor to learn the New Testament. Details to come. Contact Leigh Hall or the Church Office with questions or to volunteer to help.
CLICK TO GIVE
To keep pace with the world around us, we have added online giving to our Web site. This allows you to make one-time donations or set up recurring payments by charging your checking account, savings account or credit card. The Finance Committee researched this at length and chose one of the industry leading vendors for secure payment processing. A confirmation e-mail is sent to you for each gift, and a record of your gifts is also visible to you. It is very quick and easy. Click the "make an online gift now" button on our home page, set up a login/password, and then make a donation to the category of your choice.
PER CAPITA REMAINS THE SAME THIS YEAR
Each year, PC(USA) churches pay to support the work of their Presbytery, Regional Synod and National General Assembly. This payment is based on each church’s total membership, a contribution from members separate from their pledges. The per capita amount for 2010 is the same as it was in 2009. By paying $28.29 for each member of our church in your household, you make a big difference! Per capita contributions may be made online, placed in the collection plate on any Sunday or sent in to the Church Office. Please call Beata Kernan at 708.354.0771 with questions.

Faith Forest is our Church School to which children are dismissed early in the service.
Preschool Faith Forest (9:30 only), for ages 3-PreK, is in Room G-2 (lower level in the east wing). They explore Bible stories, play games, make crafts and have play time and juice. At 11:15 a.m., preschool children are invited to the Nursery for play-time during the service.
March 7: Jesus washes the disciples' feet (John 13.1-17).
Grade-School Faith Forest, for Grades K-8 at 9:30 and K-5 at 11:15, is taught in the rotation model. Because your children will be in different rooms each week, follow the schedule in the weekly bulletin to locate them.
March 7: Grades K-5 learn about Zacchaeus in this rotation. Grades 6-8 (9:30 only) delve into the New Testament, learning about Israel and Palestine and the importance of the city of Jerusalem to all.
Children’s Offering: Preschool this year will purchase chicks, and grade-school will purchase llamas, through Heifer International, an organization that teaches people how to care for animals and profit by them, requiring the recipients to “pay it forward” by helping others do the same. Offering Envelopes may be picked up anytime from Faith Forest.
Donations Wish List: Apple juice for Preschool, and glue sticks for Grade-School.
YOUTH MINISTRY
IB (Grades 6-8) meets at 5:00 p.m. on Sundays on the Third Floor.
